No official statement for Riot for WHY they are closing down the boards.

So we had a statement that Riot are shutting down the boards. We never got to know WHY they are choosing to do so. It would be great if we had an official statement stating why now. Why not last year or 6 months ago? Everyone deserves to know.

Both players and Rioters have migrated to other community discussion platforms such as Reddit and Discord, leaving Boards underpopulated." I dont know why now. Note that Sony did the same recently: https://kotaku.com/the-playstation-forums-are-closing-down-1841750227

It's a word ("malaria or some other illness involving fever and shivering"), so it didn't produce a squiggly underline in the author's word processing software. Maybe they should also use Grammarly, the auto-tune for writers. Good job, Kotaku.

It's so short that there's absolutely no excuse for those mistakes.
No one's perfect dude lol.

they have stopped carrying what we think and this proves it
it is his job... which he clearly does poorly
Nobody has ever made a mistake at their job
I think they were pretty clear on why they're deleting the boards. We used to have the old, traditional bulletin board style forum which had TONS of traffic and everyone loved it. Then one day, Riot announced that they were going to do something that literally no one asked for - delete the forums and replace them with reddit, except it's blue and has a bunch of weird bugs. Once the boards were literally just reddit but worse, the people who hated reddit style forums left, and the people who liked them went to reddit because why would you choose the objectively inferior option. The boards became a ghost town, which OBVIOUSLY is the community speaking loud and clear that they do not want a league of legends discussion forum, so Riot, as the most community focused game company in the world, is giving the people what they want and deleting boards.
